Calling all volunteers! The event committee has big plans this year but we need volunteers to help! Please contact Meg McDevitt at mgmcdev@yahoo.com if you are willing to volunteer for one event or many!
We certainly have a fun neighborhood, and the MLPA Event Committee organizes exciting events that bring neighbors together. New this year, this group is organizing highly successful Members-Only Socials on a monthly basis at area restaurants (stay tuned to the MLPA Web site to find out where we’re going next!).
The Event Committee manages the “Celebration of Summer,” a long-standing neighborhood tradition – held on the last day of school each year – which includes fun actives for the kids, participation of local restaurants, and live music. In addition, the “Movies in Sunken Garden” were revived this year and they are fun gatherings, held in the fall, where neighbors enjoy a movie in the park. The Event Committee is also working on developing a new event series, “Music in Morningside,” which is planned for Sunday afternoons in April where each Sunday will feature a different genre of music.
The MLPA also hosts two events that are held in alternate years: the “Morningside Tour of Homes” and the “Taste of Morningside.” This year, on November 18, 2007, we’ll celebrate the second ever “Taste of Morningside,” with an exciting line-up of restaurants, live music, beverage trucks and an exclusive Morningside-only artists’ market. In addition, we are already gearing up for “Morningside Tour of Homes 2008”.
